Day 22- A look at Spring 2016
The fashion world moves faster than we think. One of my fashion and buying merchandising teachers once said, "Stores must sell current fashion in season to avoid further markdowns when the new collection arrives". This is the reason why we see fall styles in the stores when is still hot and 90 degrees.
A few days ago I was browsing a few boards in Pinterest and looking at some of the knitwear trends for 2016. One thing I noticed in several runway shows from different designers, is the mix of interesting colors like yellow, pale blue, rose, navy and dark wine. Then another of my favorite designers came up: Oscar de La Renta. His successor, Peter Coppings, included a few pieces of knitwear but there was one particular sweater from this collection that I had to look and zoom twice, front and back. The details on this white sweater are a knitter’s dream. It has a classic and modern approach with a sexy look. I like the open back and ribbon detail. The pattern has an interesting contrast with lace on top and stockinette stitch at the bottom.
For a more casual look, add color to your favorite jeans. Here is an example from Bottega Veneta. If you like the slip stitch look and textured fabric, this sweater has it all.
I enjoy screen shopping with Pinterest. There are so many ideas and styles to incorporate in your wardrobe. So what’s on your needles? what are you planning to knit and wear this spring?
