It has been a month since my last post, this means I have been busy knitting without much time to write. But the truth is I don't like to write if I don't have anything finished. The good news is that we are in March, the National craft month and it is also the month of my birthday. Two reasons to celebrate!
I finished the Color affection shawl by Vera Valimaki a week ago and let me tell you, this shawl is big but very easy. This is the type of shawl you want to have on the needles if you want to watch TV or have a nice chat with a friend. The only change I made to the pattern is that I used two colors instead of three and the middle section was done in grey only. I also used the regular bind off combined with a yarn over to give a little stretch due to the short rows of the pattern. Here is what I did: *bind off 3 stitches as if to knit, yarn over, bind off the yarn over* repeat from* until the end.
As you can see the shawl is big. It took my entire patio table, a set of blocking mats from Knitpicks, a towel, several wires and pins. But the results after blocking is amazing! I love how the ends of the shawl curled up. I better hurry up and wear it this week because the weather is just perfect for this type of garment. The yarn feels soft with the perfect touch of warmth you want these days or in early Spring. If you want to see details of the yarn and needles I used, please go here to my Ravelry page.
